ASSEMBLY is a new annual programme designed to strengthen Gloucester’s contemporary visual arts scene by fostering transparency, opportunity, ambition, and accessibility.
As part of ASSEMBLY, we are launching a Gloucester Open Exhibition alongside artist-led interventions, workshops, discussions and community events, that explore the role of contemporary art in the city. This is an opportunity to connect with other local artists, engage in critical conversations and take stock of local talent, celebrating the art-led scene in Gloucester.
ASSEMBLY is a wider programme of events, interventions, discussions and community-building activities centred in critical engagement and local development. All of which will be revealed over the coming months.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome submissions from visual artists, collectives, and creative practitioners working across any medium. Applicants must either:
- Be currently based in Gloucester or its surrounding areas
- Have a strong connection to Gloucester (e.g. grew up here, studied here, or have worked in the city)
- We encourage applications from artists at all career stages, particularly from underrepresented voices in contemporary art.

2. Artist-Led Interventions & Events
